Secure start-up Feature: Several reboots necessary before phone starts up

Hello all!

I successfully compiled and installed AOSP 9.0 on my Sony Xperia X Performance.

I'm facing an issue when I enable "secure start-up". When I reboot the phone I get a "light" boot loop, meaning that the phone boots, then reboots several times before I can successfully enter my start up PIN.

Often I get a "Powering Off" window while the secure start up window to enter my PIN is shown. It also happens that the phone boots into recovery telling me that my device is corrupted.

After several attempts the phone then finally boots normally.

Can anyone shed some light on this behavior?
