Screen periodically flashes on and off whilst phone is locked

Why is my screen periodically flashing on and off whilst phone is locked? There is no pattern to it and the screen will come on and then go off about 5 times and then stop...Why?

Re: Screen periodically flashes on and off whilst phone is locked

there are multiple reasons

1. do you have a protecting case?

2. do you have any of this apps

     a. taskiller

     b. battery/juice defender

     c. antivirus

you don't need any of those apps

Hi, yes I have a protecting case, as well as battery/juice defender.

Why would the case do this?

Re: Screen periodically flashes on and off whilst phone is locked

remove the protecting case, it might be pressing the buttons thus turning on/off the screen/phone

remember, you don't need that app

Re: Screen periodically flashes on and off whilst phone is locked

if for some odd reason that doesn't solve the issue then backup everything and then repair your phone with SUS or PCC

Re: Screen periodically flashes on and off whilst phone is locked

uliwooly, what is wrong with juice defender, in my opinion it really helps my battery life, what do you suggest then for battery conservation?  FYI, i will try the below items, thanks very much!

Re: Screen periodically flashes on and off whilst phone is locked

to me Juice Defender it's pointless, you can turn off wifi, 3G, brightness etc, you can use a power control widget to do so or an app like quick settings. based on my own experience I didn't see any improvement, but the opposite it drains my battery slightly faster, you can compare it by uninstalling that app, restart your phone, charge it 100% use it as you normally do (w/o the app) don't charge it at all, wait until your battery level gets to 10% go to settings -> about phone -> battery use take screenshots of that and tap on the graph (take screenshots of that too) then do the same with the app and post the results here.

Re: Screen periodically flashes on and off whilst phone is locked

Hi, mine Xperia S also facing the same issue. Randomly the screen will on with lock mode then off.

I had install Advance task manager, however already remove but the problem still remains.

davemil458, have you found out any solutions for this ?

Does it solve after reset the phone ?

Note : I dun have any casing install. ( I suspect might be software, as my buttons all are still hard press condition and the phone just bought less then 1 week)
