New Memory Preparations?

Hi all,

I've got my xperia ray and bought a new sandisc 16GB microSDHC card (class 4)

Do I simply copy from the 4gb card that came with the phone to the new 16gb? Or is there some special process I need to go through first?

Thanks

Re: New Memory Preparations?

You can simply transfer the contents from the 4G SD card to the 16G card there should be no problem doing so.

I think you may need to format the new sd card in the phone before you transfer the contents from the old sd card.

Re: New Memory Preparations?

This would be a good idea, as you do not want to lose any data from the SD card. :smileyhappy:

Re: New Memory Preparations?

Hi all,

Just incase anyone else does this the best mthod I found was:

  • Connect phone to laptop / PC and back up SD card
  • Remove old SD card
  • Insert new -> phone state it's "preparing card"
  • Once done, copy files from back up across to phone - DO NOT replace already exisitng files on new card. Keep these
  • Card is ready

How do you back up the card? What software is required?

Re: New Memory Preparations?

I make an image of the whole card on my PC. You need a usb microsim adapter and imaging software. I use Drive SnapShot, but there is free software available such as DriveImageXML.
