Bad signal receiver

I tested this by moving to kinda remote place.

Compared the signal quality between ray with N*k** E71 using the same simcard.

E71 got better signal with 2-5 bars, while ray no signal at all.

Flashed the base band to .58 (hongkong version) helped a little, boosted it to 1-4 bars (but unstable and mostly emergency calls only)

Hmmm...I hope this will be fixed with ICS update :smileysad:

Re: Bad signal receiver

OK, to make this a little fair I tested it again.
Compared it with S*ms*ng Galaxy Mini using the same stock ROM 2.3.4, and the same simcard.

While ray still stuck with "emergency calls only", Galaxy Mini got 5 bars full.

Wow, what a shame :smileyshocked:

Re: Bad signal receiver

i have also noticed this. my parents house has pretty poor signal reception, and compared to my previous motorola defy  with same sim this ray is utterly shocking.

Re: Bad signal receiver

I purchased the mobile sony ericsson Ray during Divali festival.

It has poor signal receiving.  I was using Nokia in the past.  It has very good signal strength in almost every room in the house.  But Sony Ericsson Ray shows "No signal".

Now it it not able to connect to 3G.  I reported problem to airtel.  I suspect it is Airtel or Mobile problem.  I am keepting my figures corssed.

Sony Ericsson should work on poor signal receiving.

Re: Bad signal receiver

Yes, you're not alone. I faced similar problem with signal receiver. Somehow, when I use my phone in an urban area, I have no problem with my phone. But, when I use it in a rural area I often get no signal at all (emergency calls only).

I don't think this is a provider issue, since I also tested my simcard with N*k*a N95 and surprisingly the signal problem doesn't exist here.

I really hope there will be upcoming updates from SONY to resolve this problem.
