Xperia Neo and Pc companion

Why is it that when I connect my new Xperia Neo to a pc, only the memory card is found but not the phone memory?

Due to this situation, the Pc companion cannot read my txt messages or my contacts or anything that is stored on my phone memory, and it's not fun.

I used to have a U5 Vivaz and everything was fine. I could manupilate my messages and contacts on my pc, and that was cool. But not with the Neo.

Is there a way to fix this or is that just the way it is? Can someone help me please?.

Re: Xperia Neo and Pc companion

I've got some suggestions/workarounds

1. Download and install a file manager like Astro File manager to your phone

This app lets you view the contents of your phone memory as well as the SD card from the phone itself.

2. Download and install PDA net on your phone and PC

It's main use is a tethering app but it has a SMS agent whcih allows you to send and receive SMSes on your PC.

Re: Xperia Neo and Pc companion

If you are used to using PC Suite with your old Vivaz then try this software FJ Software Development which allows you to sync your phone contacts, calendar and messages to your PC.  It's really very good and loads of users on the forum are converts, me included.

You can infact do it with the sony connection settings (as described in the user manual). You do not need any special application.

1. Make sure that the USB connection is in mass storage mode.

  • Settings-->Sony Ericsson-> Connectivity--> USB Connection mode ............
  • Tap "Mass storage mode"

2. Finding your phone memory on your computer

  • Connect your phone to computer using USB.
  • Drag down the status bar.
  • Tap "Connect your phone --> Connect phone mem. card
