I just received my new Xperia Arc S and having trouble 'installing' the chinese keyboard. Searched all over forum and tried every suggestion but still no chinese keyboard.
List of what I've tried
1. Open Message app -> Tap and hold -> Input Method -> only International Keyboard came up
2. Settings -> Language & Input-> Selected Chinese as Language -> Restart Phone -> Chinese language system with English keyboard only
3. Writing Language -> Chinese not in the selection
4. Checked System update -> All up to date
5. Updated to ICS via Sony PC Companion -> still no keyboard and no option to select chinese keyboard
Can any one help? I'm going crazy here.

Download it and install it on your phone
After installing follow the point number ( 1 )

Thank you for the linked. I have downloaded and installed the apk, but unfortunately, still does not work (note: I didn't know how to install the apk from phone so I used Astro File Manager).
After I installed the apk, I found the Chinese Keyboard as an additional option along with Xperia Keyboard under setting Languages & Input. So I went ahead and ticked it to apply the setting.
With the ICS update, I'm no long able to tap and hold in the message app to bring up the input selection. Instead, I can pull down the process menu from the top and access it there.
As soon as I selected Chinese input, I receive this error message: "Unfortunately, Chinese Keyboard has stopped". I then removed and reinstalled the app, still receiving same error.

Still receiving same error message.
I also tried soft reset (reset settings without removing apps), still same error.
What might be the problem? Its quite dissapointing to buy my first Sony Ericsson Smart Phone to encounter such trivial thing as this where there is no simple solution.

But the thing is it comes preinstalled on Xperias.
From where did you buy the phone ? which country ?
Go for a software repair and see if you are able to get it

Exactly, for something so basic, you would think it is pre-installed and working properly.
But no, its not.
Does the country of origination really matter? Shouldn't every phone come with the same spec?
For that answer, my phone was from Hong Kong, which is assumed to have Chinese Keyboard.
I have found an app on GooglePlay which will partly do the job but I've found a bigger problem.
I lost my mobile network connection all of a sudden. I have no 3G or H displayed and I cannot connect to the internet unless there is WiFi. I tried the classic turn on/off airplane mode, WiFi, and mobile network, none of them worked. Also tried soft reset, removed SIM & battery, and restarted phone several times, nothing worked.
This is a brand new phone, but I'm begging to suspect this is a hardware issue rather than software.
Would you agree?

Just go for a software repair and post the results thereafter
Backup everything as it will erase all data on phone (sms, contacts, apps)
Update/Repair your phone via PCC or SUS
PCC (PC COMPANION) – Repair your software with this .First do the setup without connecting your mobile to pc.(only connect when you are asked to).
