see u 2 have just 150 mb used..
i use flash to upgrade to new versions..
so in every update the RAM beahaviour is the same..
have u tried this..
turn off ur phone and start..
then immediately go to settings
note : dont open any application..
settings > applications > managa applications > running services..
u'll see the total ie used and free will be arnd 300..
u keep ur phone for like 2-3 hopurs without opening any app..
but use it for a while and u'll notice the total will come to 270mb..
ie 140mb used 130 free as against 150mb used 150mb free..
can u tell me why this.. ??
and also..the list of applications there are the same no matter what..

basically, as you use the phone, various functions get activated, and don't always end correctly, so you end up
with processes which just keep going, and using up RAM - this will include Android system processes, which
is why you end up "losing" RAM from the count.
There is a term used in IT called TSR - Terminate & Stay Resident. It means that the function gets stopped, but some
of the processes keep going.
This can be down to poorly written apps, bugs in the OS, or any number of reasons.
To be honest, the memory management processes within android are rather good - I'm a windows tech, and
the amount of memory issues i've come across over the years beggars belief.
yes, the phone could do with more RAM, but I honestly don't see any real issues. Every now and then when I
exit an app (usually a game), it can take a few seconds to redraw the home screen, but I can live with that - I've
seen my colleague's Samsung Galaxy S II do the same thing, and its got twice the RAM, and a dual core CPU.

hmm so u mean its a problem in android ??
cause i have used iphone 4..it has no back option just press the only button and u can exit 100 of applications with no lag..
i love arc but this game issue i dont like it at all..
have to live with it..

I agree in general what mtlevy has mentioned in the replies above.
If you don't exit the apps cleanly, sometimes it still is hogging a bit of RAM space.
Poorly written apps can also contribute to this.
Then there are times the free RAM amount can go down and up depending on what the phone is doing presently.
e.g when I perform an anti virus/malware scan, the free RAM amount drops while the operation is in progress.
Once it has finished doing it and I have exited the app, the free RAM value returns to what it generally was before.
