Sony Xperia Z does not detect AT & T SIM card in USA. Worked fine in INDIA for 4 months

Hello,

I have used my Sony Xperia Z in India for 4 months. It worked fine for indian mobile services providers.

Recently, I have moved to USA, and found - my phone does not detect AT & T sim card here.

The same sim card works fine on other phone. But not with my Sony Xperia Z

Please guide me what could be the issue.

Thanks alot

Cinni

Which version do you have the C6602 or C6603?

btw this subforum is for the Xperia Z1 not the Xperia Z

Re: Sony Xperia Z does not detect AT & T SIM card in USA. Worked fine in INDIA for 4 months

Do you have the correct APN settings

settings > more > mobile networks > access point names > menu > add New

Name pta

MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net

MMS proxy: 80

MCC: 310

MNC: 410

Authentication type: None

APN type: Not set

Bearer: unspecified

Menu > save > restart your phone

I did same!

Saved new APN as suggested above, restarted phone. But no luck!

Re: Sony Xperia Z does not detect AT & T SIM card in USA. Worked fine in INDIA for 4 months

Just had a talk with Sony Xperia support team and came to know - xperia z bought from indian market will not work in us market as frequency differes and US mobile service providers do not support indian frequency.

My Xperia Z - model c6602 is of no use in US. Its for Indian market only

[ Edited ]

That doesn't seem right, AT&T use 850 and 1900 for 3G, in some areas both in some others only one or the other, and the C6602 support them, umm quite odd. I have the C6603 but I've seen other users with the C6602 here in the US, use the search bar and find those threads.
