Xperia X10 Downgrade from 2.3.3 to 1.6/2.1/2.2

Hi,

I just updated my X10i from 2.1 to 2.3.3. And... Woaah! What is this?

HORRIBLE visual (that clean blue was mostly replaced by ugly blacks and greys), the music player can't play properly a song with strong bass (actually, can't play any song properly), the home screen is ugly too...

What I most enjoyed on X10 was it's distinct visual. And now it's gone. :smileysad:

Is there any way to downgrade from 2.3.3 to 1.6 or 2.1 or 2.2?

You know you can install a different homescreen/launcher

go on the market and type launcher maybe the gingerbread launcher

market.android.com its easie to look for them on your computer

if you want to downgrade

download FlashTool and the firmware that you need from

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746

Install it and you will see  5 folders

                                   Custom
                                   Drivers
                                   Firmwares
                                   Loaders
                                   X10Flasher_lib
take the firmware to the  "Firmwares" folder
click on X10FlashTool (Application)
click on Falsh
Press Ok
it will ask you to connect your phone on Flashmode (turn off your phone, press the back button, then connect the USB) press OK
Click Flash

Where is this v2.1 file found to downgrade from v2.3

Link to firmware possibly?

I used the flash tool to upgrade to 2.3

so the file to down grade would be perfect.

x10 (SO-01B)

Dislike new software immensely.

Have you thought of just installing a custom rom instead, 2.1 is a little outdated.

After performing the downgrade to 2.1 as mentioned by Uliwooly, you may also want to connect your phone to PC Companion or SEUS to let it do some other updates to it.

Reason :

1. Was helping a colleague to upgrade his phone from v2.1 to v2.3.

2. Upgrade was fine but in v2.3 he like me was not able to download the MobilePass from the Android market so he wanted to downgrade to v2.1 so I performed the downgrade for him.

3. He told me that some sort of pinch to zoom functionality was lost and to restore that he said he needed to connect to PC Companion or SEUS to get it back.

Note :. I have since found the apk file for the app, so I wil be helping my colleague to update again to v2.3

Re: Xperia X10 Downgrade from 2.3.3 to 1.6/2.1/2.2

Excellent tutorial - found the right firmware for my UK O2 pay as you go account on version 2.1 and the downgrade went perfectly - saw a useful Youtube vid which also helped.  Really absolutely needed to go back to 2.1 from 2.3.3 as new software was a shock - no control over fixed homescreen app bar, lack of space from previous large area, smaller wallpaper space, bad sound, fiddly media screen, no backup, loss of better ring tones, app scrolling wrong etc etc - once again thanks for instructions.

Re: Where is this v2.1 file found to downgrade from v2.3

Hi - Did your downgrade work OK?  Like you found 2.3.3 incredibly disappointing and needed to revert like yesterday. Was worried I had messed up forever by upgrading but this site worked like magic to tell me how to restore it. Hope you too are back to a better place with UR 'phone.
