Yes, Flashtool its for the i/a/at versions; that's why I said if you want to take one for the team and test it out.

yes as long as you do NOT unlock the bootloader

Re: Root ALL SONY ERICSSON SMARTPHONE 2.3.2 AND UP!!!

if you used the app, you didn't unlocked your bootloader.

are you using any other launcher, which android version and build number do you have

go to settings -> about phone

if you have android 2.3.2 or 2.3.3 that could be the issue, it was solved with the latest updates, but if you have the verizon version (r800x) then there's nothing to do

Re: Root ALL SONY ERICSSON SMARTPHONE 2.3.2 AND UP!!!

i'm using the original xplay launcher, i have GO launcher though.

i'm pretty sure i'm at the latest one, 2.3.4 and 4.0.2.A.0.42

is the problem coming from the apps i downloaded since i root my play??

Re: Root ALL SONY ERICSSON SMARTPHONE 2.3.2 AND UP!!!

that's quite odd, if I were you I would just repair it with SEUS or PCC

Re: Root ALL SONY ERICSSON SMARTPHONE 2.3.2 AND UP!!!

I'd like to root my "live with walkman" so i can install firewall app to block apps using internet. Easy rooting toolkit looks like the best script. There is also the Easy rooting toolkit (v1.0) UNROOTING SCRIPT.

Being new to smartphones i have a few questions i hope can be answered.

1) Can you install system updates after root?

2) Can you unroot after system updates?

3) If i do a backup then root the device. Do i have to unroot the device before restoring original backup?

4) With a backup done after root, can that backup be restored if the device has since been unrooted?

fyi: My phone hasn't had any updates installed. Current build is 4.0.1.A.0.283
