According to various articles in many newspapers on Oct 27th, 2011, the joint venture between Sony and Ericsson is finished.
Below is some information about this :
SONY to acquire Ericsson’s share of Sony Ericsson
International and Swedish media extensively covered today’s announcement: Ericsson and Sony today announced that Sony will acquire Ericsson’s 50 percent stake in Sony Ericsson, making the mobile handset business a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony. The transaction gives Sony an opportunity to rapidly integrate smartphones into its broad array of network-connected consumer electronics devices – including tablets, televisions and personal computers - for the benefit of consumers and the growth of its business. The transaction also provides Sony with a broad intellectual property (IP) cross-licensing agreement covering all products and services of Sony as well as ownership of five essential patent families relating to wireless handset technology. As part of the transaction, Ericsson will receive a cash consideration of EUR 1.05 billion. (Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, Reuters, Bloomberg, Dow Jones, BBC, Dagens Industri, Dagens Nyheter, Svenska Dagbladet)
How will this support forum be affected? ie it obviously can't be called the SE forum isn't it.
What about the support and warranty for the current SE phones?
and obviously later models may just be called Sony phones
Can any SE moderators or rather Sony moderators provide a comment for us support forum users?

Yes probably so and until the actual cash payment and some other items pertaining to the break up of the JV and transference of the IP and patents stuff, etc, etc happens, I believe it will be status quo for now.
Currently busy with many things and have not logged in to help other forum participants.
Anyway you and the other persons are there.
Will log off now as busy with other stuff.

that's right but they say they focus on to only high end smartphones.. such a marketing strategy won't do any good for them. (at least here, in India!)

And that makes me wonder how to choose between the S&E phones....coz both of them are really good at their pros.Hope that something good arises outta this 'no-so-good' split.
