-to take screenshots press voulme down and power button at the same time and hold for a sec !!
-well a new ics kernel has been made awailable with auto root check out
when u install it and boot for the first time all necessary steps would be done to root ure device !! so itz much more easier than maual rooting !!

Firstly u need to unlock ur bootloader
to unlock ur bootloader follOw the follwing instructions
NOTE:Unlocking bootloader can void ur warranty
Installing CWM and Rooting for 6.1.B.0.544 firmware
+ Download kernel file : http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?att
+ Extract the zip file
+ Copy "kernel.elf" file into fastboot folder on ur computer.
+ Turn off your phone, hold Volume Up and connect the USB cable to the computer. If the LED light turn blue that means the phone is now on Fastboot mode.
+ Open Command Prompt in fastboot folder (Shift+ Right Click Mouse, choose Command Prompt)
+ Type this command if u use windows :

Works on locked bootloaders too (mine is locked).

I tried almost all the method but found this one very easy to root my xperia p. Thanks to developer
